JBS USA - Manuscript Formatting and Submission Guidelines

Founded and launched in 2020 by Buddhist Missionary and curator - His Honorable Thich Giac Chinh, Journal of the U.S. Sangha for Buddhist Studies: Journal of Buddhist Studies has served as an important voice in the media Buddhism. In addition to in-depth feature articles, the journal publishes book and exhibition reviews, cultural studies, and related fields of Buddhism as well as conference and festival reports.

 

The Journal of Buddhist Studies is published two times per year on a calendar year basis in print and electronic formats (print: ISSN 2692-7357, electronic ISSN 2692-739X).

As we strive for academic excellence, we're reminding you of the essential guidelines for submitting to the Journal of Buddhist Studies (JBS). Please ensure your manuscript meets the following requirements:

General Guidelines:

 

1. Language: Manuscripts should be written in English.

2. Font: Use a clear, legible font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12-point).

3. Spacing: Double-space the entire manuscript, including references, notes, and block quotations.

4. Margins: Set 1-inch margins on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right).

 

Manuscript Structure:

 

1. Title Page:

    - Include the title of the article, author's name, affiliation, and contact information.

    - Ensure the title page is separate from the rest of the manuscript.

2. Abstract:

    - Provide a concise abstract (150-200 words) summarizing the article's main points.

    - Include keywords (3-5) relevant to the article.

3. Introduction:

    - Clearly introduce the topic, provide context, and state the article's purpose.

4. Body:

    - Organize the content into logical sections with headings.

    - Use proper citation and referencing throughout.

5. Conclusion:

    - Summarize the main findings and implications.

6. References:

    - List all sources cited in the article, following APA style (7th edition).

 

Citation Style:

 

1. APA Style: Use the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style, 7th edition.

2. In-text Citations: Use author-date citations (e.g., Smith, 2020, p. 12).

3. Reference List: Include a comprehensive reference list at the end of the manuscript.

 

Submission Guidelines:

 

1. File Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.

2. File Size: Ensure the file size is reasonable (less than 10 MB).

3. Submission: Submit manuscripts through our online submission system via email to info@jbspress.com

4. Author Declaration: Include a declaration stating that the manuscript is original, unpublished, and not submitted elsewhere.

5. Author Bios: Provide a brief bio for author, including affiliation and research interests.

Peer Review Process:

 

1. Double-Blind Peer Review: Our journal uses a double-blind peer review process. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process, where reviewers are unaware of the author's identity and vice versa.

Our editorial team will review your submission to ensure it meets our guidelines and is suitable for peer review.

2. Review Timeline: Expect feedback from reviewers within 6-8 weeks.

 

Publication Timeline:

 

We publish articles print and online as soon as they're accepted and edited.

Our journal is published quarterly, with issues released in June, and December.

Once your article is accepted, it will be scheduled for publication in the next available issue.
